The water line beyond the BLM drinking fountain shut off is broken. A BLM inspection of the area did not show any water bubbling out, but the water table is high and many pools exist. Bruce at BLM suggests that we turn on the line when the ground is drier in order to see if we can find the leak.
Until then, no Jetty shower.
A collision Tuesday with Japanese whalers destroyed a 2 million dollar speedboat operated by Paul Watson and his anti-whaling group, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Friday at 11 a.m., John Matthews will speak with Watson about the incident and his tactics on 94.1 KSLG FM.
As our monthly Ocean Night at the Arcata Theatre Lounge, Humboldt Surfrider, Ocean Conservancy and Humboldt Baykeeper are showing “The Cove.” (Synopsis below.) Academy of the Redwoods, a recently opened school, has just formed a surfing club and though we have the basic foam boards many of our students have gotten to the point where real boards have become necessary to progress further. We are looking for donations of boards, wetsuits, leashes, wax, ect.
