On Friday, April 1, Ocean Conservancy, Humboldt Surfrider and Humboldt Baykeeper present an extra special Ocean Night at Arcata Theatre Lounge. This time, donations will go to The Redwood Regional Rotary Relief Super Fund to provide assistance to Del Norte County fishermen who lost their livelihoods following the tsunami damage to Crescent City’s harbor.
The event is all-ages, donation-based and includes a post-film raffle with a surfboard by local shaper Mark McClendon, a night at the Requa Inn and more!
Movies include Drive-Thru Japan, a “search for waves in the land of the rising sun” and Baja Wave Document, directed by veteran Hollywood film editor Chris Figler, portraying the efforts of WiLDCOAST and fishermen in Baja California to preserve the last wild coastlines of the peninsula.

On Saturday, Mar. 19 a public beach clean up will be held to remove tsunami debris from affected beach areas.
Volunteers are needed and are asked to meet at 1 p.m. at the Crescent CityWastewater Treatment Facility located at 210 Battery Street in Crescent City.
Please wear appropriate clothing for the event such as boots, gloves, and raingear. Trash bags will be provided.
All volunteers must register on the day of the event at the Treatment Facility and be sworn in as a Volunteer Disaster Servicer Worker. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and have parental consent.

This time around the group invites listeners everywhere to join them on their quest in channeling their highest selves. “Anyone changing other peoples lives for the better is a hero to me,” explains The Grouch. “People are going through a difficult transition these days,” adds Zumbi. “We want this album to aid in that process.”
