April events: Meeting tonight!

Greetings! It’s been a long winter, but Surfrider is kicking things back into gear this month with our regular members’ meeting, a collaborative Gear Sale, an Earth Day beach clean-up and Old Timey Hoe Down.
On a sadder note, please be advised a paddle out for John “Moose” Mason takes place this Saturday. See below for details.

Surfrider Meeting
Tuesday 9 April @ Humbrews
7 p.m. – 8 p.m. **

Join Surfrider Humboldt for our monthly meeting.  Get involved with current campaigns and programs like beach cleanups, outreach and keeping the Samoa Peninsula free from illegal waste disposal.  Plus, have a beer on us!  We hope to see you there!
** Please note time change for Spring/Summer

Paddle Out for John “Moose” Mason
Saturday 13 April @ Trinidad Harbor

A  memorial gathering for John Mason will occur Saturday, April 13, beginning with a paddle out in Trinidad Harbor at 12 noon.  Traditional paddle outs have participants bring flowers to spread on the water after gathering in a circle. Please gather earlier than noon, around 11:30, and carpool as parking at the Harbor and in town is at a premium.
If you are not paddling out, you can watch the paddle out from the lighthouse above the Harbor.
A potluck gathering will follow the paddle out at the Trinidad Town Hall, with a slide presentation  starting at 1:30 followed by an open mic.  (The Town Hall is across the street from the elementary school.)
If you can, please bring finger foods (something that does not need a fork) or something to drink.
If you have a favorite photo of Moose, be sure to bring it and pin it up on the poster board that will be provided.  Also, if you bring flowers, please bring them in a vase.
The memorial will conclude at 5 p.m.  Questions? Call Bill or Chris Hoopes at 707-445-3453 or Jen Savage at 707-477-8283
