Surfrider Happenings

April 18th - Saturday Beach clean up at the North Jetty, Samoa CA from 9am to noon. 

April 23rd - Earth Week Ocean Night at Arcata Theatre Lounge for Sequoias of the Sea screening and surfboard drawing. The evening will bring together community members, scientists, ocean advocates, students, and surfers for a powerful film and conversation about the future of Northern California’s kelp forests—often called the “redwoods of the sea.”

Following the screening, the event will feature a panel discussion and audience Q&A exploring the ecological, cultural, and policy dimensions of kelp forest restoration along California’s North Coast with Natasha Benjamin (filmmaker and Associate Director of Blue Frontier), Kevin McKernan (Marine Director for the Yurok Tribe), and Laurie Richmond (Cal Poly Humboldt professor of Environmental Science with a focus in marine, coastal and community resilience and researcher).
