Most times, the non-biodegradable cigarette butts you step over on the sidewalks wind up on local beaches. But last Saturday, Tobacco-Free Humboldt's Lou Moerner, Denise George, Jay McCubbrey, Cory McCubbrey and Valerie Norareno gathered 1,265 butts – all within a single hour spent in front of Arcata's Tavern Row.
