Aspiring Actors Wanted!

Written by Surfrider Humboldt | Apr 5, 2012 9:26:57 PM

Aspiring actors needed to take on the role of 'Bag Monster' this Saturday at Arts Alive in Eureka (6-8 p.m.) and at the Beach Ball 2, Arcata Theater Lounge (8-10 p.m.). Make this character come alive! Participants receive free schwag from Surfrider and Friends of the Dunes.

Suggested monologues:

Can you tell me which way to the ocean? I’m looking to retire out there in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a mass of swirling pollution that is rumored to be twice the size of Texas! I can’t wait to get there and be with more of my own kind. The marine animals will enjoy nibbling on me, since there will be more of me than their own food sources. I can stay there for the rest of my life, which is pretty much forever! I might break down into smaller and smaller pieces, but I will always be there.

~~~~~~~~~
I’m a Bag Monster, but I love hanging around people of your kind. I feel so welcomed among humans, I get so much attention. And the more people use bags, the more of my kind there are! Thanks for keeping the Bag Monsters alive!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Did you know that Bag Monsters are becoming endangered species? With all the bag bans going into effect around the globe, you may not see creatures of my kind much longer! Even here in Humboldt, there are efforts trying to rid our environment of folks like me! We must put a stop to this!
