Plastic tsunami

No, it's not the name of some wacky new rock band – plastic in the water is the topic of a new video by the folks at SavetheBay.org.

Still using plastic bags? Opt for something better. Our favorite, Chico bags fold up small and are easily tucked into a purse or pocket. All the grocery stores offer inexpensive reusable cloth or mesh bags. If you sew, convert some old pillowcases. Instead of stuffing fruits and veggies into plastic, let the thick-skinned ones stay loose and tuck the more delicate into paper bags – then reuse or recycle those.

Suggestions? What works for you? How do you feel about efforts to ban single-use plastics?
